Over the weekend, GVT users who tried to watch movies on Xvideos were met with a message from the site itself blaming the slow loading of videos on the carrier, which was filtering Xvideos. Dissatisfied consumers complained about the carrier to Reclame Aqui.

Our friend Rodrigo Ghedin made a good record of the case in the User Manual , including posting the message that appeared on the website accusing the operator of traffic shaping.

Traffic shaping is a practice of differentiating traffic on a network. It involves offering a different bandwidth to a video than to a social network, for example, causing the video to stream slowly even though, in theory, your internet is fast enough to download it in a few minutes. The Brazilian Internet Bill of Rights has defined that this cannot be done.

GVT denied the practice. In the User Manual, the operator said the following:

GVT informs that it does not block any type of website. On Friday afternoon, after widespread requests to the call center involving the same internet address mentioned in the report, the company identified a technical problem in one of the network devices that caused fluctuations in access to the website. The company’s technical team immediately began working to resolve the issue and navigation on the website was normalized as of the end of the afternoon of last Saturday

  1. Xvideos offers a wide variety of content, but it’s important to remember that not all of it reflects healthy or realistic relationships
